The developers of inZOI have shared a new development update focused on the foundational systems currently being prepared for the upcoming June update.
Instead of showcasing only traditional gameplay content, this week’s video highlighted several core technologies and interaction systems that could significantly expand what becomes possible in future updates. 🚀
From custom video playback and DualSense support to dynamic physics reactions and improved character animation systems, the team is clearly focusing on making the game world feel more reactive and immersive.
🎬 Custom Media Support for Cinemas & Speakers
One of the most interesting reveals is support for local media integration.
While platform restrictions prevent direct streaming from third-party services, players will be able to:
- 📹 Upload local video files to cinema screens
- 🔊 Play custom audio tracks through Hi-Fi speakers
- 🎥 Distort and customize video screen angles
- ⏩ Fast-forward media playback
This opens the door for more personalized experiences inside the game world and potentially new community-driven content possibilities.
🎮 Customizable Ring Menu Coming to PC
The developers are bringing the ring menu system, originally designed for consoles, to PC as well.
Players will be able to:
- ⚙️ Customize shortcuts
- 🎯 Assign preferred actions
- 🖱️ Adapt controls to different playstyles
The goal is to make interactions faster and more intuitive across platforms.
🎧 PS5 DualSense Features Are Being Expanded
The team also showcased several experiments using the PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller features.
Examples include:
- 🕯️ Blowing into the controller microphone to extinguish candles
- 🎣 Fishing mechanics using adaptive trigger resistance
The developers described these as early experiments and asked the community for more ideas on how DualSense technology could improve immersion.
💥 Smarter Physics & Connected Gameplay Systems
A major focus of the update is connecting previously isolated systems together.
The developers demonstrated examples like:
- 💧 Water spills causing characters to slip
- ⚡ Wet electronics reacting differently depending on power state
- 💻 Computers breaking when exposed to water or heat
- 🧱 Characters bouncing off walls or falling between elevations
This push toward cause-and-effect gameplay systems could make the world feel far more reactive and alive.
🧍 Improved Character Animation & IK Systems
Character interaction systems are also evolving.
New improvements include:
- 👀 Characters following the mouse cursor with their eyes/head
- 🤝 Experimental inverse kinematics (IK)
- 🚶 More natural interactions like holding hands while walking
These upgrades are aimed at making social interactions feel smoother and more believable.
🧠 A More Reactive Future for inZOI
Rather than focusing only on adding isolated features, this update shows the developers are investing heavily in the underlying systems that power the simulation itself.
The June update appears to be laying the groundwork for:
- deeper interactivity
- smarter physics
- better immersion
- more dynamic player-created experiences
And based on the video, the team is actively asking the community to help shape how these systems evolve next.
