The latest inZOI development update focuses on autonomy and conversations, while also introducing a variety of smaller improvements, new interactions, and features currently in development.

The development team is working to make Zois behave in more natural and human-like ways by giving them a better understanding of their relationships, emotions, surroundings, and current situations. Several additional systems are also being expanded, including basketball, first-person surfing and diving, food ordering, door permissions, and modding options.

🧠 More Natural Zoi Autonomy

Autonomy remains one of the main areas of development for inZOI. The goal is to make Zois better understand their surroundings and naturally choose actions that make sense for what they are doing.

One example concerns hunger. Zois will now look for a full meal when their hunger reaches the red level. When their hunger is still in the yellow range or higher, they can instead choose something lighter, such as a dessert or a cup of water.

The team is also continuing work on autonomy inside businesses. When Zois visit a business, the system is being developed so that customers use appropriate customer areas while employees use staff-specific chairs and tools.

These improvements are part of the broader effort to make Zois' behavior feel more consistent with their circumstances.

💬 Conversations Now Consider Relationships and Emotions

The conversation system is also receiving a major improvement.

Previously, conversations did not sufficiently take into account factors such as the relationship between two Zois or their emotional states. This could sometimes result in conversations that felt inappropriate or awkward for the situation.

For the upcoming October Mini Update, the system is being improved so that it can select dialogue based on:

  • The relationship between the Zois
  • Both Zois' emotional states
  • Their current situation

However, more selective dialogue comes with another challenge: if the system only chooses conversations that perfectly fit a situation, the available pool becomes smaller and the same lines can appear more frequently.

To address this, the development team is currently expanding both the variety and overall amount of conversation content.

🏀 A Functional Basketball System Is in Development

A functional basketball system is also being worked on.

The system is designed so that the timing of a player's shot release affects whether the ball successfully goes through the hoop. This would make basketball more interactive than a simple animation or background activity.

The feature is still in development.

🤿 First-Person Surfing and Diving

The recently released surfing and diving systems are also being expanded.

The team is working on first-person support for surfing and diving, with the goal of making these activities more immersive.

🚶 Smoother Avoidance Animations

The development team has also made systematic improvements to avoidance animations.

These changes are intended to make crowds look smoother when multiple Zois move around the same area and potentially bump into one another.

🍿 Ordering Food Directly at Cash Registers

A new interaction allows Zois to walk up to a cash register and order food or drinks.

After an order is placed, the cashier can walk to the appropriate machine to retrieve items such as popcorn and drinks. Other foods, including hot dogs and tacos, are prepared more immediately.

This creates a more direct interaction between Zois and food-service counters.

👨‍👩‍👧 More Relationship Information in Create a Zoi

Create a Zoi is receiving several useful relationship-management improvements.

Players can now hover over household members' icons to see their relationships with one another.

Relationship levels can also be adjusted across all available categories before entering the game, giving players more control over household relationships during character creation.

🚪 Improved Door Permissions

The door permission system is also being redesigned.

The updated system will allow players to assign a permission owner and co-owners directly from the interaction bubbles, making it easier to manage who has access to a property.

🍽️ More Flexible Clothing During Light Activities

Zois will no longer automatically change into full workout clothing for lighter physical activities.

Instead, they can remain in their current outfits during less demanding exercises or movements, making their behavior and appearance more casual.

📱 Talking on the Phone Fulfills Social Needs

A new phone conversation interaction has also been added.

Unlike a normal phone interaction directed at a specific Zoi, this option is simply used to spend time on the phone and fulfill a Zoi's social needs.

🍽️ Washed Dishes Can Be Redone

The development team has also added an option to redo dishes that have already been thoroughly washed.

The change is presented as a small quality-of-life and gameplay option based on situations that can happen in everyday life.

⚖️ Karma Interactions Removed From Recommendations

Karma-based interactions have been removed from the recommended interaction list.

The change is intended to prevent a Zoi's karma level from being affected by recommended actions without the player being aware of it.

🚗 New Modding Option for Driving Animations

A new modding feature is being developed that will allow creators to change the sitting motion used while driving.

This could give mod creators more freedom to alter how a Zoi sits inside a vehicle, including deliberately unusual or humorous animations.

🔧 Autonomy and Conversations Remain a Major Focus

The latest development update shows that the team is continuing to work on the underlying systems that determine how Zois behave and interact.

The conversation overhaul is particularly important to the broader autonomy improvements, as relationships, emotions, and situations will increasingly influence which interactions Zois choose. At the same time, the team is expanding the amount of dialogue available to prevent more selective conversations from becoming repetitive.

Alongside this larger work, development continues on basketball, first-person surfing and diving, smoother crowd movement, food-service interactions, relationship controls, door permissions, phone interactions, and new modding capabilities.

The team says that autonomy is one of the core systems that makes Zois feel like living beings, and development will continue to focus on improving its quality.
