๐ ๏ธ inZOI Shows New Script Mods Coming in October Mini-Update
While the next major inZOI update is scheduled for December, a smaller mid-October Mini Update will introduce a new set of modding capabilities, including the long-awaited script mods.
The development team recently tested these features with a small group of mod creators and is now showcasing some of the creations made during the testing period. The examples demonstrate how script mods can go far beyond simple data changes and allow creators to build entirely new gameplay experiences.
๐งฉ Script Mods Arrive in October
The upcoming Mini Update will introduce the initial set of script mod features.
The development team describes script modding as something that will continue to grow over time rather than a finished system arriving all at once. The October release is intended to give creators access to new tools and allow them to experiment with what is possible.
The team has also been testing the system with a small group of players. Feedback from these tests is being used to prepare the October update, with more limitations and new use cases expected to become apparent as more players begin creating and using mods.
๐ Creative Vehicle Mods
Vehicle modding, which was shown in an earlier development video, has already produced some unusual creations.
During the testing period, mod creators built:
-
A moving bed
-
A sliding piano
-
A giant sea creature
These examples show how vehicle-related modding can be used to create objects and experiences that go well beyond traditional cars.
๐ Custom Pocket Market Content
Creators also combined data mods and script mods to produce a custom section for Pocket Market.
Other experiments included a giant Zoi and a mysterious custom item with an unusual effect.
The examples demonstrate how combining different types of mods can create content that would not be possible through data editing alone.
๐ฒ A Dungeons & Dragons-Style System
One of the more ambitious demonstrations recreated a Dungeons & Dragons-style decision system.
In the example, a Zoi makes a decision about an action, with that decision leading to multiple possible outcomes.
This gives mod creators the ability to build systems based around choices and different results, opening up possibilities for custom gameplay scenarios.
๐ง๐ป Control Regular NPC Zois
Script mods can also be used to take control of regular NPC Zois.
This gives creators another way to change how NPCs are used within custom experiences and could allow them to build gameplay scenarios that require direct control over characters that would normally be autonomous.
๐ Height Slider for Zois
Another demonstrated script mod adds a height slider.
The tool can make a Zoi smaller or larger, directly changing their overall height and allowing creators to experiment with characters of different sizes.
๐ ๏ธ More Modding Tools Are Planned
The October script mod update is part of a much broader effort to make inZOI more accessible to mod creators.
The development team has already introduced the ability to create user interfaces with simple HTML, while Lua scripting and MCP integration have also been added to make it easier to build mods with the help of LLM tools.
The official modding documentation is available here:

Looking further ahead, the team plans to provide developer-level tools through the Mod Kit Editor, expanding the possibilities available to creators.
๐จ Making Modding More Accessible
The development team says one of its goals is to make mod creation accessible even to people without extensive experience in modding, game development, or programming.
The team also sees recent advances in AI as making mod creation more accessible, particularly when combined with tools such as Lua scripting, HTML-based UI creation, and MCP.
For inZOI, the long-term goal is to create an environment where players can not only download and use mods, but also create their own content and share new experiences with others.
๐ October Mini Update Before December's Major Update
The mid-October Mini Update will arrive before the game's next major update in December and will include the first set of script mod capabilities.
Alongside the modding work, the October update is also being prepared with improvements to Zoi autonomy, existing lots, unique NPC appearances, outfits and hairstyles, as well as fixes for issues affecting social events and restaurants.
The update will also introduce a Build Mode option for setting access permissions for employees and customers, an action-order editing feature, and improvements to Create a Zoi that will allow players to fine-tune intimacy and relationship settings.
The development team says the October update is being prepared based on the recent mod testing, with the goal of getting these tools into more players' hands and seeing what the community can create.
With script mods now expanding the possibilities beyond traditional data modifications, the upcoming update marks another step toward a more flexible creator-driven inZOI experience.
