The inZOI development team has shared another weekly development update as the game moves closer to its upcoming March update and the first anniversary milestone.
According to the developers, the latest video showcases several features planned for the March update, although some previously announced changes will arrive slightly later. The planned Unreal Engine upgrade to version 5.6 has been postponed and is now expected to arrive with the April update, as additional stability work is still required.
Additionally, the UI improvements previewed in recent weeks will not be included in the March update and are currently planned for May, allowing the team more time to refine them.
Despite these delays, the March update will still introduce a wide range of new features and gameplay systems.
🗺️ Minimap and Street Parking
One of the most anticipated additions arriving in the March update is the Minimap, which aims to improve navigation and spatial awareness across the cities in inZOI.
The update will also introduce street parking spaces, making vehicles more accessible and helping the city environment feel more realistic.
🚗 Driving Cars Around the City
A notable new feature allows players to drive vehicles located throughout the city, even if they do not belong to their character.
However, this freedom comes with consequences. Attempting to use vehicles that are not yours may lead to legal trouble in-game, including the possibility of being arrested.
The feature is intended to create more dynamic and emergent gameplay situations across the world.
🚲 New Activities for Kids
The update also adds a smaller but charming addition for younger characters: rideable tricycles.
Children will now be able to move around the city using tricycles, adding more personality and realism to everyday life in the simulation.
🧠 Memories, Milestones & Life Events
Another major system coming to the game is a memory and milestone system.
A new notification tab will track various events in a Zoi’s life — both important and minor — helping players keep track of their character’s personal history.
These records may include life milestones such as birthdays, significant events, and other notable moments experienced during gameplay.
🎬 Cinema Improvements
Players will also see improvements to entertainment venues.
A functional movie screen is being added for cinema locations across the cities, allowing them to be renovated and used more realistically.
To complete the experience, the developers are also working on a popcorn machine, making movie visits feel more immersive.
💰 Business Improvements and Tip Jar System
A new tip jar system will allow customers to leave tips for businesses.
Once the jar fills up, players will have the choice to:
-
share the earnings with employees
-
keep the extra profits for themselves
This mechanic adds another layer of decision-making for players running businesses.
💼 Career Gameplay Additions
Career gameplay is also receiving several updates.
A new job interview social event allows characters to prove their abilities to potential employers when applying for jobs.
Additionally, if a character needs to complete work outside normal hours, they will now be able to work overtime from home.
The developers have also added new properties for careers and businesses, expanding workplace environments within the game.
🍵 Cultural Lifestyle Interactions
Several smaller but immersive interactions are also being introduced, including:
-
drinking tea
-
eating at low tables
-
sleeping on traditional low beds
These additions aim to make everyday life in the simulation feel more authentic and culturally diverse.
🌱 Farming Quality-of-Life Improvements
Players previously reported that farming could feel repetitive when planting crops tile by tile.
In response, the developers have expanded the range for seeding and watering plants, allowing players to manage crops more efficiently.
While the system does not yet support managing an entire farm with a single action, the expanded range should significantly reduce tedious micromanagement.
🧩 Mod Support Improvements
Another helpful quality-of-life improvement allows newly downloaded mods to be activated instantly.
Previously, players had to restart the game after installing mods. With the new system, mods can be enabled without restarting, making the modding experience more convenient.
🎨 Graphics and Visual Improvements
The team has also implemented several graphical enhancements.
These include:
-
improved rendering for characters on lower graphical presets
-
lighting adjustments to reduce yellow tint issues on higher presets
These changes aim to improve visual consistency across different hardware configurations.
