The next inZOI update is scheduled for September 3 at 6:00 AM UTC, and after two months of work focused heavily on the game's fundamental systems, the team is preparing a build filled with improvements to everyday life, autonomy, and social interactions.

Rather than simply adding large amounts of new content, this update focuses on making Zois behave more naturally and making everyday situations feel more believable.

📅 inZOI September 3 Update

The development team has spent the past two months redesigning and improving some of the game's core systems, particularly autonomous behavior.

Zois will now make decisions that better fit their surroundings and circumstances. Basic needs such as hunger and sleep should also be handled more naturally, while Zois will be more likely to sit near people they are familiar with.

Another improvement is that Zois who own vehicles will be able to autonomously get into their cars and drive to their destinations.

The team also confirmed that the previously discussed venue system is not yet included in this build. The prototype for the system is expected to be ready the following week, with the team hoping to potentially deliver it later through a hotfix.

With that in mind, the September update is primarily about strengthening the foundations of the life simulation rather than introducing a huge amount of new content.

🛏️ Watch TV From Bed

One of the smaller but more immersive additions allows Zois to watch TV while sitting on their bed.

Previously, a Zoi wanting to watch television would need to get up and move to another location, such as a couch. Now, they can simply stay in bed and enjoy their favorite shows.

It's a small change, but it makes everyday relaxation feel more natural.

📋 Send a Zoi on an Errand

A new send-on-an-errand interaction gives players another way to manage their Zoi's busy schedule.

Instead of personally handling every task, players can now send another Zoi to take care of an errand for them.

This should make managing multiple responsibilities more convenient and give players more ways to involve other characters in everyday activities.

🚪 Visiting Other Zois Gets More Realistic

Visiting another Zoi's home is also becoming more grounded.

When approaching someone else's home, players can now knock on the door to ask for permission to enter.

However, not everyone needs to wait outside. If the visiting Zoi is a family member or close acquaintance of the homeowner, they can simply walk inside.

This creates a more natural distinction between close relationships and casual acquaintances.

🪑 Zois Prefer Sitting With People They Know

Zois are also becoming more socially aware when choosing where to sit.

Rather than automatically selecting any available seat, they will now prefer to sit near people they know when someone familiar is nearby.

This is another improvement aimed at making groups and social situations feel less random.

👕 Children Get Arm Sleeves for Messy Food

A small detail has also been added for children.

When kids eat particularly messy food, they will automatically put on arm sleeves to protect their clothes.

Once they've finished eating, the sleeves are removed again.

It's a minor interaction, but it adds another layer of everyday realism to children's behavior.

💬 Business Conversations Depend on Relationships

The conversation system has also been adjusted for situations involving businesses.

While a Zoi is actively running a business, conversations with customers will initially be limited to business-related dialogue options.

However, things change once a genuine relationship develops between an employee and a customer.

At that point, the characters can gain access to a much wider range of conversations, including:

  • Friendship
  • Romance
  • Small talk
  • Humor
  • Other everyday interactions

This means the relationship between two characters can directly affect how they interact, rather than every customer immediately having access to the same conversations.

🔥 Unattended Cooking Can Now Start Fires

The biggest feature shown in this week's development video introduces a new danger to everyday cooking.

If a Zoi leaves food cooking unattended for too long, there is now a chance that it will catch fire.

Sometimes the result may simply be burnt food. However, if an actual fire starts, firefighters will arrive to deal with it as they normally would.

This gives cooking another realistic consequence and makes leaving the stove unattended a potentially costly mistake.

So if your Zoi has a habit of starting dinner and then wandering off to do something else, it might be time to keep a closer eye on the kitchen. 🔥

🧩 A Smaller Update With Important Foundations

Although the September 3 update may not contain as much brand-new content as some previous updates, the development team is putting considerable effort into improving the systems underneath the game.

The redesigned autonomy system is particularly important because it affects how Zois behave throughout their daily lives. The team wants characters to feel less like they are simply executing isolated actions and more like people who understand their surroundings, relationships, needs, and routines.

The new everyday interactions shown in this video — from visiting someone's home and sitting with friends to delegating errands and dealing with kitchen fires — are part of that larger goal.

The September 3 update arrives at 6:00 AM UTC, and the team hopes these improvements will provide a stronger foundation for future inZOI development.
